A Collection will be taken up in the New Creevelea Abbey Cemetervthls Sunday to help defray the cost of maintenance and grass-cutting. Next Cemetery Mass: Killenummery Old Churchyard on Sunday 29th July at 3.00pm. rci A special request when caring for graves in anv of our cemeteries but especially in the Abbev Cemeteries: Please bring a plastic bag with you when tidying a grave and take home broken wreaths, flower vases, dead plants and any other litter that belongs to you. There is no collection facility in these cemeteries. Do not throw discarded items into the ditches or into the grass where they an absolute danger to those doing strimming and maintenance. And please do not let your dog off the lead in or near the cemeteries. The Cemetery area and individual graves are constantly being fouled by dogs when people take them for a walk and let them loose where they should not be. We need to have more respect for the dead and their relatives who maintain the graves. Our cemeteriesare sacred around. [D] Sr. Mary Gallagher will speak at all Masses on Saturday 14th & Sunday 15th July 2012 to promote Mission Awareness. Sr. Mary belongs to the Congregation of the Missionary Sisters of the Holy Rosary (The Killeshandra Nuns) which was founded in 1924 by Bishop Joseph Shanahan CSSp to bring the Gospel message to the women of Southern Nigeria. Sisters are presently on mission in Brazil, Cameroon, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Liberia, Mexico, Nigeria, South Africa, Sierra Leone, the U.S.A. & Zambia. Work in refurbishing the New Cemetery must commence soon ~ otherwise the grant will be lost. The committee has to provide matching funds to draw down the grant. So they are appealing to all who have yet to make a contribution to the Repair Fund to do so without further delay. Thanks to the many people who have contributed to date. Matching funds of circa €100 per plot are needed.
