GENERAL / CHURCH NOTICES. [A] The Annual Special Id/more Diocesan Collection to support Christians in the Holy Land was taken up last Sunday. If you would still like to make a contribution, please put it in an envelope marked "Holy Lancf'and drop it into the collection basket next weekend. Thanks for your generosity. Christians were 40% of the population of the Holy Land less than 50 years ago and now make up lust about 1.4%. They are vital in preserving the heritage & patrimony of the Holy Land and the Holy Places. The continuing conflict has badly affected local Christians who are ethnically Arab and so are treated as hostile. The increasing influence of aspects of Islam has also made life more difficult, as has the decline of tourism to places like Bethlehem because of the on - going conflict and the separation wall. Your contribution will help out in very many important ways, including the upkeep of churches and parish centres in Nazareth, Bethlehem & Jerusalem, schools in Bethlehem and homes for the elderly in Nazareth!
