BAPTISM When Clovis, King of the Franks, became a Christian he was baptized in Rheims Cathedral by St. Remigius. After his baptism Bishop Remigius took away his old Coat - of - Arms represented by three frogs and gave him in its place the symbol of three lilies. The frogs were a symbol of ugliness and the lilies a symbol of beauty and purity. The Fleurs -de - Lys have ever since been the coat - of - arms of the French kings.
