Dromahair ~ Killargue ~ Newtownmanor Sunday 24th August 2014 ~ The 21st Sunday in Ordinary Time CHURCH NOTICES. [A] Please don't forget this Collection! The Annual Special Kilmore Diocesan Collection to support Christians in the Holv Land will be taken up after Communion in ail 3 churches next weekend, Saturday 30th & Sunday 31s* August 2014. Christians in the Holy Land need our support. They comprised 40% of the population of the Holy Land less than 50 years ago and now make up just about 1.4%. The Christian population is vital in preserving the Heritage and Patrimony of the Holv Land and the Holv Places. The continuing conflict has badly affected all local Christians who are ethnically Arab and so are treated as hostile. The increasing influence of many aspects of militant Islam has also made life more difficult, as has the decline of tourism to places like Bethlehem because of the on-going conflict and the separation wall. Your contribution will help in many important ways, including the upkeep of Churches and the Parish Centres In Nazareth, Bethlehem & Jerusalem, schools in Bethlehem and homes for the elderly in Nazareth. [B] Church Gate Collections: All those taking up Approved Church Gate Collections are asked to do so anljLafter Mass. This applies in all 3 church areas. It is a long standing rule and collectors are asked to respect it. Mass goers are hit for every collection. They at least deserve a break on their way into church! Clothing Collection There is a Clothes Bank / Container in the Depot Grounds. If you have old clothes for disposal, why not bring them there. Your contribution will help the parish and various charities. Currently people are leaving out bags of clothes at their houses to be collected by purely commercial operators & they rarely help any worthy cause ~ despite what a few advertise! And other clothes banks in the village contribute only a very small amount to the charities they advertise. _ Please do not bring books, toys or any items other than clothes! A man was just waking up from anesthesia after surgery in his local hospital. His wife was sitting beside him. His eyes fluttered open and he said to his wife: You're beauWul!J\v&s\ he fell asleep again. His wife, who had never heard him say anything like that before, stayed by his bedside. A few minutes later his eyes fluttered open again and he said to her: You're cute! His wife was disappointed and asked: What happened to beautiful? The drugs are wearing off, he replied.
