[A] The AnnualSpecial Kilmore Diocesan Collection to support Christians in the Holv lam/will be taken up after Communion in all 3 Churches next weekend, Saturday 1st / Sunday 2nd September 2012. Christians were 40% of the population of the Holy Land less than 50 years ago and now make up just about 1.4%. They are vital in preserving the heritage & patrimony of the Holy Land and the Holy Places. The continuing conflict has badly affected local Christians who are ethnically Arab and so are treated as hostile. The increasing influence of aspects of Islam has also made life more difficult, as has the decline of tourism to places like Bethlehem because of the on - going conflict and the separation wall. Your contribution will help out in very many important ways, including the upkeep of churches and parish centres in Nazareth, Bethlehem & Jerusalem, schools in Bethlehem and homes for the elderly in Nazareth! [B] We warmly welcome Fr. Eamonn Me Mahon who is home from Brazil on a short recuperative holiday. [C] Pilgrimage to Fatima # 3rd -10th October 2012. 7 nights ~ Full Board in SantoAmaro Hotel. Yet there must be a richer sod, where the horizon trail dips over. There is no going back. Why bind your swift pace with a useless fetter? Forget the good old days! Go on- and make the new ones better. Ted Olsen.
