Parish Website: www.drumlease-killargue.com Fr. John Me Tiernan ~ 071-9164143 / Fr. John Sexton ~ 071-9164131. Dromahair ~ Killargue ~ Newtownmanor Sunday 29th August 2010 ~ The 22nd Sunday in Ordinary Timei Special Collection last Weekend for Pakistan Thanks to all who contributed so generously to this collection. Amounts raised so far are as follows: Dromahair € 1,210; Killamue €1,350; Newtownmanor €645. Some more contributions have been pledged! ENERAL / CHUR< [A] Special Collection for the Holy Land ~ Saturday 4th & Sunday 5th September. The background to this collection is that Christians in the Holy Land are facing a time of crisis. Within the last 40 years the proportion of Christians has plummeted from 20% to as little as 1.4%. Soon there will not be sufficient Christians to look after the Holy Places. Local Christians are ethnically Arab and so are treated as potentially hostile by the Israeli state, religious tours have practically ended in Palestinian areas, Bethlehem now has very few visitors, hotels have closed and the local economy has been devastated. The separation wall further isolates or imprisons local communities. It will be taken up after Communion at Masses next weekend, Saturday 4th & Sunday 5th September in all three churches. Other Dioceses have special collections each Good Friday ~ but for us this clashes with Trocaire. Your contribution for the Holy Land next weekend will assist with the upkeep of churches & parish centres in Nazareth, Bethlehem & Jerusalem, schools in Bethlehem & homes for the elderly in Nazareth. [B] Diocese of Kilmore ~ Marriage Preparation Courses: It is Diocesan policy that each couple attends an ACCORD Pre-Martiaqe Course. Facilitators giving these courses undergo continued in-service training and supervision. And the sacramental aspect of marriage receives appropriate attention. It is a wise practice to do a course up to a year before the date of your marriage. Doing a course only weeks before your wedding makes little sense! All couples are asked to note this request ancf make suitable & timely arrangements. [C] Our primary schools re-open on Wednesday 1st September. We wish all students, teachers, parents and the whole school community every blessing and a successful, happy year. [D] Friday next is the First Friday. Visitation will begin this week and continue next week. All those concerned will be contacted beforehand.
