Tax Relief for Donations to Eligible Charities and Approved Bodies. Dear Parishioner, Under the Tax Relief Scheme our parish is eligible to claim back a percentage of the tax paid by parishioners on their church contributions. If you have contributed more than €250 in total in any qualifying year and if you are a PA YE worker, then the parish can get back the tax that you have already paid on this money. To date we have not done so but would like to begin the process by claiming back tax for the year 2005 ~ it must be done immediately ~ and we will then claim for 2006 - 2009 early in the new year. The refund would be very worthwhile if each PA YE worker fills in the relevant CHY 2 Cert / Form. For example: • If you were on the Standard Tax Rate (20%) at the end of 2005 and contributed a total of €400 to the parish, then the Revenue will send back €100 (i.e. 25% of what you paid). • If you were on the Higher Rate (41%) at the end of 2005 and you contributed a total of €400 the Revenue will return €278 (i.e. 69.5% of what you paid). All you have to do is fill in the following on the CHY 2 Cert/Form: 1. Your name in BLOCK capitals. We will fill in the parish name, amount and year of claim. 2. Your PPS number. 3. Tick the tax rate box: Standard or Higher. 4. Sign, Date and fill in your address and phone number. When you have completed the areas of the form requested above: Please put it in a sealed envelope in the basket at Sunday Mass Or • Post it back, or hand it in to the Parochial House Or Give it directly to your priest. Please try to have your form back by next week. Thanks for your generosity and co-operation. Yours Sincerely, #foy /.«w Fr. John Me Tiernan, P.P
